FIFA Worldcup 2010 South Africa Live - Day 9, 19 June 2010

Ghana Vs Australia ( 1 - 1 )

In the Group D match in Rustenberg, Ghana and Australia played a exciting one-one draw. Ghana now top the Goup with four points. Serbia and Germany have three points each. Australia are placed fourth with one point. Australia took an early lead against Ghana in Rustenburg, but after having Harry Kewell sent off, were forced to hold out for a 1-1 draw in Group D.

Brett Holman scored in the 11th minute after goal keeper Richard Kingson bobbled a free kick from Mark Bresciano right into his path. Holman put the rebound past the keeper. Harry Kewell led the Australian attack against Ghana as one of the four changes to the team after the first match defeat. But he was given a red card in 24th minute after he blocked a shot from Ghana defender Jonatahn Mensah at the Goal line with his upper arm.Asamoah Gyan, converted the penalty kick in the 25th minute and scored second goal of the tournament.

Group D team standing after Saturday game is that Ghana us at the top with for points followed by Serbia and Germany with three points each.

Netherlands Vs Japan ( 1 - 0 )

In group E leaders Holland become the first country to reach the Round of Sixteen, also known as the knock out round. Earlier in the day, Holland beat Japan 1-0 which was their second win, after beating Denmark. With two wins out of two games, Holland top the group with Six points. With three points, Denmark kept alive their chances of entering the knock-out round.

After a unimpressive first half the Dutch looked impressive in second half, earlier in first half Japanese side frustrated the Dutch player. In front of 62,000 fans at Moses Mabhida Stadium the Orange team looked unimpressive, but 53rd minute goal gave them the much needed win to keep European hop alive in World Cup 2010. In two games, the Dutch master scored just twice for themselves. Earlier in previous match with Denmark the Dutch got an own goal in their 2-0 win.

The Netherlands is a two-time World Cup finalist but lost in both the edition in 1974 and 1978. Dutch team is of the hot favorite for this FIFA World Cup 2010, the win set a new record of 10 straight victories for the Netherlands in World Cup qualifier and final matches.

Cameroon Vs Denmark ( 1 - 2 )

In a Group E match in Pretoria, Cameroon were beaten by Denmark 2-1. With two defeats out of two matches, Cameroon got eliminated from the competion. Dennis Rommedahl hit a second-half winner as Denmark came back from a goal down to beat Cameroon 2-1 in Pretoria and eliminate the Indomitable Lions.

After getting an early lead in just 10th minute Cameroon was unable to defend it for long and conceded an easy goal in 33rd minute. Denmark scored another goal in 62nd minute and that was more than enough to show Cameroon an exit door out of WC. Both team worked well on there attack but totally forgot to work on defense. They conceded unnecessary goal early goals with much effort. What a game from Cameroon but bit unlucky in second half. Three minutes of injury time didn’t help them much. So the Cameroon mission ended in World Cup 2010.

FIFA Worldcup 2010 South Africa Live - Day 7, 17 June 2010

England Vs Algeria ( 0 - 0 )

In a Group C fixture at Midnight, England delivered one of their worst performances for years when they were held to a goal-less draw by Algeria. The result has left England, one of the World Cup favorites, on the brink of elimination with one game to go in the first round. Algeria held the Three Lions to a second disappointing World Cup draw, a 0-0 tie that left the Group C wide open and is sure to have English fans furious after their team arrived in South Africa as a favorite.

This second draw leaves English dependent on Slovenia and unsure of their place in the knockout phase. After Friday's games, Slovenia leads the group with four points and it will its best to hold England on Wednesday. While England and the United States both had two. Algeria had one.

Slovenia Vs United States ( 2 - 2 )

In a Group C match in Johannesburg, the United States fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Slovenia. At half-time Slovenia led 2-0. The draw, in one of the tournament's pulsating encounters, has kept alive United States' hopes of progress to the last 16. Coach's son Michael Bradley scored the 82nd-minute equaliser as USA retrieved a 2-0 half-time deficit to earn a deserved draw with Group C rivals Slovenia.

A BLUNDER happened at the hands of Koman Coulibaly while refereeing his first FIFA 2010 World Cup match between Group C teams, Slovenia and United States today, June 18. He called 'foul' on Maurice Edu in a critical moment of USA vs. Slovenia, which would have given the Americans a 3-2 lead instead of a 2-2 draw.

Initially, Slovenia lead with two goals scored in the first half. However, in the second half United States’ Landon Donovan and Michael Bradley equalized the goals. From minute 1 till 90, the game was really entertaining but Koman Coulibaly’s one careless call devastated the whole match and denied USA a World Cup win against Slovenia.

Germany Vs Serbia ( 0 - 1 )

Milan Jovanovic's first-half strike earned Serbia a 1-0 victory over a Germany side who lost Miroslav Klose to a red card and saw Lukas Podolski miss a penalty.

In a dramatic Group D clash at Port Elizabeth, playing in their maiden World Cup finals, Serbia pulled off a 1-0 upset win over Germany. The match-winner came through Milan Jovanovic in the 38th minute. It was the third upset of the tournament, after Mexico's 2-0 shock win over France and Switzerland's 1-0 victory against Spain. Three-time champions Germany were nowhere near their superb performance against Australia and failed to penetrate the Serbian defence. Serbia scored the match-winner immediately after Germany were reduced to 10-men. Striker Miloslav Klose had got the marching orders from Spanish referee Alberto Undaio for his second booking in the 37th minute.

Serbia appeared in the World Cup as a group champion; Loew’s team probably was not well aware of it. Today all the German supporters felt the absence of one – he is Michael Ballack, whose magic touches in the mid field could probably create some wonders for the Deutschland today.

FIFA Worldcup 2010 South Africa Live - Day 8, 18 June 2010

Greece Vs Nigeria ( 2 - 1 )

Today, FIFA World Cup 2010 showcased the opening match between Greece and Nigeria which was taken over by Greece by two goals. So, 2-1 was enough for Greece to be victorious over Nigeria. Greece didn’t play well in its previous matche, but in today’s, played a great game and won the match. Dimitrios Salpingidis and Vasileios Torosidis scored to earn Greece a 2-1 comeback victory over ten-man Nigeria – their first triumph on the world stage.

In the second Group B encounter at Bloemfontein, Greece came back from a goal down to beat Nigeria 2-1. The African team had to play with 10 men for almost two-thirds of the game after midfielder Sani Kaita received his marching orders after he kicked out at opponent Vassils Torosidis. It is Greece's first ever win in World Cup Finals. Greece and South Korea both have three points while Nigeria are still without a point after two games in Group B.

France Vs Mexico ( 0 - 2 )

At Polokwane, France were threatened by an embarrassing early World Cup exit after a surprise 2-0 defeat to Mexico in their Group A game. The 1998 champions have just one point from two games before facing South Africa in their final pool match. Even a win might not be enough for them to qualify. Substitutes Javier Hernandez and Cuauhtemoc Blanco were on target as Mexico claimed a thoroughly deserved 2-0 win over France in Polokwane.

Hernandez ran onto Rafael Marquez's pass and rounded goalkeeper Hugo Lloris before guiding the ball home in the 64th minute. Hernandez's grandfather, Tomas Balcazar, scored for Mexico against France in the 1954 World Cup, although that was a consolation goal. Blanco converted a penalty in the 79th after Eric Abidal fouled Pablo Barrera, who came on for the injured Carlos Vela in the first half.

Argentina Vs S Korea ( 4 - 1 )

Title-contenders Argentina have recorded an emphatic 4-1 victory over South Korea in their second Group B match of the World Cup Football tournament. In the match played at the Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg, the winners led 2-1 at half-time.

Argentina went ahead in the 16th minute when Chu Young scored an own-goal following corner kick by Messi. After the lead, they totally dominated the proceedings. Their second goal came when Gonzalo Higuain's fine header found the target in the 33rd minute. Higuain then went on to score the next two goals also and obtained the distinction of recording the first hat-trick of the tournament. The goals came in the 76th and 80th minutes. The losers' only goal had come just before the breather through Lee Chung Yong.

The encounter is the highest scoring game in the World Cup so far. With two wins in two matches, Argentina now top Group B with 6 points and are well-placed to enter the Round of Sixteen.South Korea stand second in the group with three points with one win in two games.

FIFA Worldcup 2010 South Africa Live - Day 6, 16 June 2010

Spain VS Switzerland (0 - 1 )
Day 6’s second match for the day has just finished with Switzerland beating Spain by 1 goal to 0. At 52 minutes of the game, Gelson Fernandes scores. It was Switzerland’s first win against Spain in 18 attempts. Gelson Fernandes was declared the man of the match for his fantastic display. World Cup has finally brought us a real drama! Spain dominated from the first to the last minute of the match, but failed even to get a single point. The biggest hero in this historical victory of the Swiss team was midfielder Gelson Fernandes who scored only goal on the match in the 52nd minute. The action began goalkeeper Benaglio with long ball.

Honduras Vs Chile ( 0 - 1 )
Chile ended a wait of almost half a century for a victory on the world stage by defeating Honduras 1-0 in their opening Group H game in Nelspruit. Jean Beausejour’s goal in the 33rd minute holds up at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit as Chile get their first three points at the World Cup in 48 years. Only a 1-0 win for Chile in the end but they could have had a lot more goals that that. Credit to Honduras for defending well, and goalkeeper Noel Valladares in particular for one cracking save, but let’s also recognise the enterprise Chile showed going forward, we haven’t seen much of that before now in this World Cup.

Uruguay Vs South Africa ( 3 - 0 )
Uruguay pumped in 3 goals giving them their first world cup match win since 1990, propelling them to the top of Group A. On the other hand, hosts South Africa lost their first game in 14 matches, leaving them with an uphill task of going through to the next round.

FIFA Worldcup 2010 South Africa Live - Day 5, 15 June 2010

Brazil Vs Korea ( 2 - 1 )
Brazil secured an opening 2-1 victory over Korea DPR through goals from Maicon and Elano but the Asian outsiders made them work hard for their win. Defender Maicon produced an astonishing goal out of the blue to set Brazil on their way to a 2-1 win over a stubborn North Korea and spare their blushes after a shockingly bad first-half performance Tuesday.
Boasting impressive ball skills, the Koreans attacked mainly through Jong Tae Se - dubbed the Wayne Rooney of Asia - who tested Brazil 'keeper Julio Cesar on several occasions and his side was never outplayed. The North Koreans were finally rewarded for their tireless work with a consolation goal by defender Ji Yun Nam in the 89th minute.

Ivory Coast draw with Portugal ( 0 - 0 )
Ivory Cost and Portugal showed plenty of ability but ultimately could not break the other down, battling to a hard-fought scoreless draw. Ivory Coast and Portugal entered the World Cup fray here on Tuesday and produced a goalless draw marked by Didier Drogba's return to action just ten days after surgery on his broken arm. Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo had the best chance to break the stalemate on a crisp winter's afternoon in the first half when the Real Madrid winger's 25m shot rattled Boubacar Barry's left post in the 10th minute. A Drogba-inspired Ivory Coast had Portugal on the hop in time added on but he miscued his shot and man-of-the-match Ronaldo and co. escaped with a point.

New Zealand Vs Slovakia ( 1 - 1 )
A last-gasp Winston Reid header snatched New Zealand an improbable draw against a dominant Slovakia side in their Group F opener in Rustenburg. New Zealand defender Winston Reid headed an equalizer in the dying seconds to earn a 1-1 draw with Slovakia and secure his country's first ever World Cup point in their Group F opener on Tuesday. Fullback Reid popped up to glance a header past Jan Mucha that went in off the foot of the post to bring the All Whites level after Robert Vittek had put Slovakia in front five minutes after halftime in what had been a fairly pedestrian contest.

FIFA Worldcup 2010 South Africa Live - Day 4, 14 June 2010

Italy Vs Paraguay ( 1 - 1 )
Italy opened their FIFA World Cup defence with a come-from-behind 1-1 draw in Group F against Paraguay on a rainy Monday night in Cape Town. Four years on from that heavy night in Berlin, the Azzures stepped on to the Cape town pitch against a talented Paraguan side who stunned them with the opening goal to take the lead until Daniele De Rossi levelled the score in the 69th minute to finish the match 1-1 draw in Cape town.

Shot-shy Italy needed a scrambled second-half equaliser by Daniele De Rossi to snatch a 1-1 draw with Paraguay after the South Americans had looked like pulling off a shock victory in their World Cup opener Monday. Antolin Alcaraz shocked the Gemany 2006 champions in the 39th minute to open the scoring, The Italians were slightly better in the second half, levelling after another goalkeeping blunder in the 63rd minute, but did precious little to change the pessimistic view of their fans and media who sent them to South Africa with a verdict of no chance.

Japan Vs Cameroon ( 1 - 0 )

Keisuke Honda carried Japan to their first World Cup finals victory on foreign soil when he scored the goal which beat Cameroon 1-0 in a Group E match on Monday.Paul Le Guen's Cameroon had been expected to ease to victory against an out-of-form Japan in what on paper appeared their easiest group fixture.Takeshi Okada's Japan had other ideas and bustled their way to a deserved win to join the Netherlands as the day's Group E winners after the Dutch beat Denmark 2-0 in the early match.

A dour first half was briefly illuminated by Honda's 39th minute goal. Daisuke Matsui was allowed time and space on the right wing to float in a cross that evaded everyone but Honda at the far post, who finished neatly.Cameroon had registered the game's first shot on goal shortly before Honda's strike but the Indomitable Lions failed on too many occasions to feed the ball to their front three. They improved after the break with captain Samuel Eto'o beating four players down the right wing before setting up Eric Choupo Moting, who curled his shot wide of the far post. Cameroon's Stephane Mbia hit the bar late on with a rasping 30 metre drive but the African side, who left normal first-choice midfielder Alexandre Song on the bench, did not threaten enough as Japan left Honda up front while the rest defended their lead.

Netherland Win 2-0 against Denmark

Netherland stamped a comprehensive victory over Denmark after getting a lucky own goal in the opening minute of the second half and then a late goal from Dirk Kuyt to take their World Cup campaign opener against Denmark.
They took the lead just after halftime when Denmark defender Simon Poulsen's misdirected header from Dutch striker Robin van Persie's cross hit the back of fellow Dane Daniel Agger and went into the net for the first own goal of the tournament. Forward Dirk Kuyt put the game beyond Denmark in the 85th minute when he followed up to tap home after Eljero Elia had hit the post following a through ball by Wesley Sneijder Denmark, who have not beaten the Dutch, apart from a penalty shootout victory in Euro 92, for 43 years, rarely looked like scoring in a match that never really lived up to expectations.

FIFA Worldcup 2010 South Africa Live - Day 3, 13 June 2010

Day 3 of the World Cup had Algeria face off with Slovenia, Serbia took on Ghana and the final game was a pacey Germany vs Australia.

Sunday offered a thrilling round of matches for Day 3 of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The first two matches took place between minnow nations Algeria VS Slovenia and Serbia VS Ghana. While the final match of the day saw the powerful and methodical Germans taking on the hot headed Australians.

Algeria VS Slovenia ( 0 - 1 )
A late goal at the 79th minute of the game by Robert Koren saw the Slovenian side winning their first ever world cup match against Algeria. The team was packed with excitement as both teams tried their level best to get past each other’s defences to get within scoring distance from their goals. The Algerian player, Nadir Belhadj, was on top form and his free kicks were a delight to watch but he was unable to convert them into goals for his team. Algeria also lost one of their players thanks to a hand ball in the 73rd minute of the game. It was just a matter of time before the Slovenian players took advantage of 11 players versus 10 to turn the tide of the game in their favour. Slovenia now leads their group chart after winning their first game 1-0.

Ghana VS Serbia ( 1 - 0 )
Finally a time for the African continent to celebrate! Ghana came away from this clash as winners when Asamoah Gyan scored off a penalty kick in the 85th minute of the game against a tough Serbia team. Gyan was the player of the match and deservedly so. His numerous forays into the penalty box of the Serbian team kept fans on the edges of their seats and his devastating free kicks could change the game at any point to favour Ghana. Ghana is the first African nation to win a match in this world cup in South Africa and the way they are playing the game right now they are sure to provide some exciting match ups as the tournament goes one. Ghana won the game 1 -0.

Germany VS Australia ( 4 - 0 )
The pick for match of the day was the final one played on the third day of the world cup. The Germans have always fielded a formidable side and have made full use of their opening matches to stamp their dominance with high scoring matches. Today, unfortunately for Australia, was no different. The German strikers Klose and Oezil were on a warpath from the very beginning of the match and did not allow the Australian side any chance of letting down their defenses. Germany seems to be all fired up and waiting to take on all comers. Though the team is missing Michael Ballack they have lots of new interesting players who can take the team to the finals. Germany won the match 4 – 0.

FIFA Worldcup 2010 South Africa Live - Day 2, 12 June 2010

South Korea vs. Greece 2-0
They played ( South Korea ) with a freedom and sense of adventure that has not always been seen in the opening few days and, on this evidence, they could be a bigger challenge to Argentina winning Group B than initially anticipated. The first victory on the 19th World Cup in South Africa made a team of South Korea. In the first match in the Group B at the stadium Nelson Mandela Bay in Port Elizabeth, South Korean team win Greece with 2-0 result.

South Korea's captain Ji-Sung Park scored in the 52nd minute and Jung-Soo Lee in the 7th minute of the match. South Korea played excellent game and so proved to be an unpleasant rival for all teams at the World Cup 2010

Argentina vs. Nigeria 1-0

Argentina beat Nigeria 1-0 thanks to early Heinze goal
